You will need this to run a lot of mods so it is not optional! Just download it and put it in your mods folder like you would normally!. I also if I were you skim over the CC and make sure there isn't accidentally something that you wanted that slipped in by mistake. Then all you need to do is press the Delete key on your keyboard inside each folder and those CC files will be deleted. Once you have them highlighted right-click and choose "Show Containing Folder." If might tell you multiple folders will be pulled up and if it does just click ok. Once you see that all you have to do is click one, hold shift, and click to the end of the list to highlight all the files. Click on that and it'll take you to the list of all the CC files used. At the top there you see a tab called CC. Once you click on it you'll see a page like this: To make it easier to tell I would name it BAD CC in your gallery. Once you see this click on the household/lot you wish to view CC for. MAKE SURE TO ONLY HAVE CC YOU WANT TO REMOVE! Open the program after doing so and it'll look like this: Go into CAS or Build Mode and load up all the CC you no longer want onto a sim or lot and then save it to your gallery. #Sims 4 how to install mods mac install
When you install this program it will allow you to see all the files of CC used on a sim or lot.To clear this out download this program called Sims 4 Tray Importer here. With CC sometimes you get a broken piece, you find out you don't actually like it as much, or you might just have a bunch of old ones that you don't use anymore.I also recommend you test your game every time you download major or multiple small mods just to make sure they work.

If you have a lot of small mods what I would do is organize them in separate subfolders by what they are (Careers, Aspirations, Glitch Fixes, etc) so that if a patch happens you can remove one folder at a time to see what could be causing your game issues.

Mods are relatively easy as they usually don't break unless a major patch happens (like the one in June) and most major mods will give you a notification saying you need to update them.
It can be difficult managing mods and especially CC due to how much you might have. Youll need to restart your game after that and you're ready to go! Basically, if you want any mods you'll need to enable this but it won't affect how your game runs. #Sims 4 how to install mods mac mod
If you don't know what a script mod is its a mod that changes the game's script to do something different. Just make sure when you open your game you goto Options > Other and enable CC and Script Mods. If your download comes in a zip folder make sure to unzip the folder into your mods folder do not rip the files out of it.
Now once you've done that go to your downloads folder and drag the Mod/CC file to that folder, unless its a zip folder download, and boom you are done with getting the file where it needs to be. You can then go into the Mods folder and create subfolders for your different downloads such as Clothes, Furniture, Events, Traits, etc. Once you've done this I would drag it to your quick access (the sidebar) so you can easily drag files there but it's optional. Once you have your files downloaded open up your computers file explorer and go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and inside that folder create a new folder by right-clicking and going New > Folder and name is Mods. I'm pretty sure if you have AdBlock it'll automatically skip this but since I dislike using that program I'm not to sure so if someone below knows id appreciate the info so I can update this part. Click that and it'll take it to where you can download the file. Wait 5 seconds and in the corner, a SKIP AD button will come up. If it takes you to the ADFly website it will show various things like "allow XYZ" or "you need XYZ program download here" DO NOT click those. You can click on any of the files shown and you'll be able to download it nothing much there.
If you click on a download link and it goes to SFS it'll look like this. However, some Tumblr pages use either ADFly or Sims Files Share. If you download from TSR, MtS, or a Patreon account the files will pop up as a normal download. These can be acquired from The Sims Resource, Tumblr pages, Patreon accounts, Mod the Sims, and more. Have been told Mac files look about the same you'll just have to do an extra step for the Tray Importer but it is explained on their page I've been playing modded for as long as S4 has been out so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.ĭisclaimer I'm on a PC so I don't know if Mac has files set up differently. I also wanted to lay out some basic starter ones that I think are great for enhancing gameplay. Due to a lot of people on the Reddit saying they just recently started playing the S4 + a lot of general mod questions I thought id make a post explaining how to install/manage mods and CC.
